Mtaar is an artist initiative founded by Erkin Gören ve Sevil Tunaboylu in year 2009.

Mtaär, had its own space  situated in Kadikoy/Moda as an alternative to the Beyoğlu/Karaköy axis as the centre of artistic production and activity in Istanbul, was an open exhibition platform open to all artists with a project on their minds.  Artists, art groups, or independent curators shared their projects with us by using the form at our website.

Mtaär platform is a non-profit organization that supports itself by the founding artists themselves and considers this as one of its distinguishing aspects.

Mtaär Open Art Space was formed to provide an exhibition platform for all forms of contemporary art. Exhibitions with or without a theme, workshops, presentations of artists, and special performances are some of the activities planned within this framework.

Starting from July 1st, a part of Mtaar’s costs is being afforded by Arkaoda and Cem Karahanoğlu. We appreciate their honorable support to an independent art space and we’re grateful for this.
