Using a palette which highlights the contradiction between the behaviour of light in the physical world and the plastic reality , I reckon: Light’s own composition is utmost independent from what we plan. What is light in this perspective? Is it just something that is independent and chaotic in its own way, which we cannot ignore? Or is it the main actor that attaches an ordinary act or object into some system of beliefs and blesses it with a symbolical meaning?
Achromacy is like wordlessness.
Can one describe wordlessness? And would one describe it if one could? Or would one rather create a work of art using that wordlessness? The Absence of colour opens the doors to this universe of endless possibilities. Not visible inside the space in which the picture has been painted, though allowing greater space for the labyrinths of though its imaginery, defining less and speaking less… Offering “silence”, the richest music that the mind can apprehend, and “emptiness”, the widest space in which it can move, so that what is visible will not be reduced to a limited array of precoded meanings. And it’s the mind’s own camera, which will dance inside this void and it’s that camera that will see what’s more to come.
Gümüş Özdeş
“I squint my eyes most of the time, to get rid of the details and get to the point. It’s more of a will to reduce the wave-lenght. A dreamish unclearity is what I’m after. Things are more sheer this way, clearer. Why are the images in dreams particular for me, is it the way it reveals the true essence of things?
The way it presents the events differently from how they are in my waking life, the way I could ever concieve.
Is it possible how the mind sees dreams this way, is that it renders what it gathered, through its own camera obscura? The light that shivers in the deep dark or the darkness that bathes in light.”

…As Mucahit Bey, his wife Nebahat Hanim and grumpy old Nevzat were sitting in Mujgan Hanim’s living room, anxiously looking through the window to the dark street cordoned by the police; Mujgan Hanim walked in, swaying with a tea tray in her hands and a smile on her face which even such a disastrous moment could not ruin.
” Since they’ve blocked the road and wouldn’t let us out, let’s have some tea shall we? We all know that who goes out this late doesn’t have such a safe and sound journey.” Nobody responded to Mujgan Hanim’s phony delightful comfort. “These are bad times.” said grumpy Nevzat, “The streets are full of thugs and punks.
It’s time to stay home. I swear on my mother’s grave they would chop you to bits.”

‘‘…My work is mostly based on my subconsciousness, which means I try to let my images come into being while I’m already drawing. I’m searching for a kind of abstraction and stillness in my work. I like using exaggerated perspectives and weird combinations, because I like the estranged feeling these things bring about.
I’m fascinated by the forms of nature, especially animals, but also by architecture, children’s stories and mythes. In my head I blend everything together to find new interpretations and to create my own world, in which I think is still a lot to discover.’’

Mtaär artist initiative, welcomes everyone to their platform in Kadiköy, to the exhibition “Escape from Civilization” on 18th of September. Sevil Tunaboylu and Erkin Gören’s shared project, focuses on civilization that has been ‘reached’ after thousands of years through eastern / western cultures and life styles.
“Let the new human spirit that accustomed to live with a sense of defeat with the talent of forces upon, handle the materiality with the abstract value of money while bearing the spirit with the tangible things.
Several times each day trying to be grateful for what he has,but wishes to escape from the life that he has been stuck. Eventually, whatever he wishes, he can only escape, as long as the circumstances allow. And sure each time, he is in a position of escaping with the fear of going back or with the fear of wishing for going back. Such is the best slavery.”
‘Escape from Civilization’, is a a modest rebellion which brings the eastern and western civilizations geographically and culturally together, out of the big Istanbul.
